Created in 2000 for hydroelectric power, Lake Angostura is a small reservoir just outside of Turrialba. We often run stand up paddleboarding tours here as the lake is beautiful and offers plenty of exploration. In addition to SUP, you will often find wakeboarders and water skiers using the lake, as well as birders too.

If the flows are right, sometimes we’ll start our SUP tours on the Pejibaye River, paddling downstream to the Reventazon and finally into Lake Angostura.
The name Angostura is in reference to the narrow gorge located near here on the Reventazon River prior to it being dammed. Angostura is Spanish for “narrows”.
Located at the lake you’ll find a campground and Casa Turire, a hotel.
