Nouvelle excursion « Sauts de cascade »

When we first started exploring the property, Linda Creek caught our attention fast. It slices through a wide corner of the downstream border, and late one night, hunched over a relief map and reading the contour lines, we had a feeling that the canyon was hiding something worth finding.

We were right.

It took machetes, muddy boots, and more trips into the jungle than we can count to confirm it. But what we found was worth every single one of them: a series of waterfalls and deep swimming holes tucked into a creek corridor that nobody knew existed. The kind of place that makes you feel like you stumbled onto something that wasn’t meant to be found yet.

That discovery became the Waterfall Jumping Tour, which is now a featured part of our 3-Day Raft + Zip itinerary.

The route follows Linda Creek downstream to two waterfalls, each with its own swimming hole waiting at the bottom. The first stop is Macaw Drop, a clean and committed leap into a pool that is cold, clear, and deep enough that you won’t spend any time worrying about the bottom. You jump, you swim, you catch your breath, and you soak it in for a while before moving on.

Then you keep hiking downstream, and the jungle opens up to Salta Falls. This one is a different animal altogether. Standing at just over 8 meters, or about 27 feet, it is a serious jump and not one to take lightly. If you get to the edge and decide it is not for you today, that is a completely reasonable call. There is an easy trail that wraps around the falls and drops you right into the swimming hole below, where you can watch the braver members of your group take the plunge from a very comfortable and dry vantage point.

And if jumping is not really your thing at all, that is genuinely fine too. The pools along Linda Creek are worth the hike on their own. Cool, clean water in the middle of the jungle, with nothing around you but the sound of the creek and the canopy above. Some people jump every waterfall. Some people sit on a rock and let the current run over their feet. Both are correct ways to spend an afternoon out here.

There is more coming as well. Further upstream, there are additional waterfalls and swimming holes that we have not yet opened to visitors. We are taking our time building the trail out safely before we add them to the tour, because that is the right way to do it. But when that work is done, this experience gets even better than it already is. Stay tuned.
