The Turrialba area offers more than just rafting, there’s also amazing hiking as well. Below are some of our favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turrialba Vulkan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is a classic and is best done starting before sunrise. Some people like to start the hike very early in the morning to catch the sunrise from the top. Other options include starting at 6AM before. Either way, you’re going to have a spectacular view of the surrounding area. This is no easy trek, though, and is considered challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stage 7, Camino de Costa Rica<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This famous trail features incredible views of See Angostura<\/a> as the trail falls away from Silencio and into La Suiza. Past La Suiza, you’ll hike through coffee fields, around sugar cane and alongside the famous Pejibaye Fluss<\/a>. A quick stop for a helado casero (homemade ice cream) before crossing the famous Peji footbridge gets you to the finish line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tip: For the best views, start in Silencio, which is towards the end of Stage 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tsiobata hike<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

More towards the Pacuare Fluss<\/a>, those looking for an authentic experience can hire an indigenous guide to take them to Tsiobata village where they can learn about the Cabrecar. You’ll cross the Pacuare in a cable cart, and make your way up and through the jungle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pandora Canyon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This area on the volcano offers dramatic views of dozens of waterfalls; with good timing, you’ll miss the fog (which can block the view), so an early start is necessary. This is a very challenging hike with an incredible reward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tip: Make the hike more of an adventure by camping the night before at the volcano.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
